Clinicians

I work with couples struggling through issues such as affair recovery, pre-marital counseling and general relationship problems. Along with that I work with men struggling with sexual addiction or intimacy issues and I have a certification in sexual addiction treatment. I am also privileged to work with people recovering from childhood abuse and trauma by helping them process and heal from the violence they have experienced. With my background in hospice I also do a lot of grief work and specialize in working with the surviving family members of those who have died by suicide.

I prefer to work from a psychodynamic perspective with couples, families, and individuals along with an attachment perspective. Attachment theory is the study of how we bond and posits that people are meant to be in relationship.

I have been working as a hospice chaplain and grief counselor for the past seven years and currently work as an adjunct professor for MidAmerica Nazarene University. Faith is not important to everyone so I do not push my faith and I work with all clients regardless of faith.

Eddie Barnett, Master’s Level Intern

I am passionate about helping people know and experience the authentic, healthy relationships they were intended for. I have been employed with the same company for thirteen years working in a business environment. This experience has helped me to connect with the struggle many people have in achieving a work-life balance. My experience has taught me the about the problem of trying to find your worth in the workplace and the stress that this can have on yourself and your relationships. I desire to help individuals, couples and families in my community by providing quality, empathetic clinical counseling for couples, adolescents and families. I have additional training in trauma informed yoga and diagnosing and treating shame-based disorders.

I am currently working on completing my Master of Arts in Counseling at MidAmerica Nazarene University. MNU trains under the highest accreditation in the field of counseling which means that I meet weekly for three different supervision sessions. This is done so that my clients receive the highest quality care under the eyes of multiple trained professionals. As a Master’s Level Intern I work under the supervision of Josh Cress LPC, SATP-C, NCC MO license #2014041735.
